l'Abbaye du Palais, its full name being « Abbaye du Palais de Notre Dame » was founded by Bernard Clairvaux in the twelfth century.
Unfortunately, only mysterious ruins remain from that time, but certain twelfth century elements can still be found in the strict Cistercian architecture. The way the outlying buildings are placed around the central monastery is the same as all abbeys.
At the end of the eighteenth century the central building, that had been destroyed during the French revolution, was rebuilt, especially the dormitory area.
Today, the bed and breakfast is situated in those remains.
